What are the highlights of a day trip on Mount Kenya?
- Hike through the lush rainforests around Mount Kenya From Nanyuki Town (1980 meters) we drive toward the Mount Kenya to the Sirimon gate at 2650 meters. The distance between Nanyuki and Sirimon Gate is 23 km.
- First we complete the park entry formalities at the Sirimon Gate end than you can start 3 ½ hours hike on the Mount Kenya (9km) through forest. through forest, bamboo, rosewood and heather zones to Old Moses camp (also called Judmeier Camp) at 3300 meters.The forest and bamboo are home to hundreds of elephants, buffalo's, bushbucks and a plethora of bird species.
- After aclimatization we hike a little higher near fromOld Moses camp at 3600 meters to see the 2 Mount Kenya peaks. Nelion and Batian. These peaks can only be climbed by professional Alpinists.
- You have plenty of time to take pictures, and then we descend down from to Old Moses camp at 3300 m where you can have lunch
- After lunch we descend down for 9 km's (1.5 hours) to Sirimon gate where you get your driver guide and transfer back Glamping Kenya Eco lodge
- Enjoy the view of the Batian, Nelion and Lenana peaks from a few hundred meters during your day trip on the Mount Kenya.
- Enjoy the many birds in the mountain forests.
- See animals such as elephants, buffaloes, rhinoceroses, antelopes and more.
