Safari in Ol Pejeta : one of the prime sanctuaries of Laikipia Plateau and all of the Big Five are present.

A safari in Ol Pejeta includes the largest black Rhino sanctuary in East Africa, a population of southern white Rhino ; a refuge for the last two Northern White Rhino  left in the world.

  • Two of the most special creatures on Earth, Najin and Fatu are the last two northern white rhinos alive today:
  • They are mother and daughter and live at Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
  • In their home at Ol Pejeta they are protected by armed guards to protect them from illegal rhino horn poachers.
  • During your safari in Ol pejeta Conservancy you can meet Najin & Fatu.
  • In their home they have plenty of room to play and lots of food to eat, their favourite food being lots and lots of carrots! The two rhinos have a special relationship with their primary carer, Jacob, loves to feeds them and gives them belly rubs.

Across the 36,400-hectare conservancy, when you go on a safari in Ol Pejeta, you might spot Many Lion prowling the plains, giraffe and elephant munching on whistling thorn trees, cheetah scanning for prey or even elusive wild dog and leopard. It’s one of the largest black rhino sanctuaries in East Africa.

  • Start the day with a walk with the rangers or a walk across the savannah to spot birds, learn about tracking, identify plants and maybe even watch a black rhino browsing from a safe distance.
  • As well as game drives, visitors can go horse riding or cycling through the reserve,
  • meet the anti-poaching dogs.
  •  track lion with the conservancy’s researchers. The fees for these activities help fund conservation initiatives.
  • You’ll have a very good chance of seeing lion, cheetah, hyena and the rare African wild dog. And a guarantee you’ll see rhinos and chimpanzees in the famous animal sanctuaries hosted in this 365 sq.km (141 sq.miles) reserve.
  • You’ll also find a long list of not-so-common African wildlife like the aardvark and bat-eared fox in this amazing park.

Safari in Ol Pejeta : The rhino sanctuary

The rhino sanctuary here hosts 100 black rhinos, the largest protected population in East Africa. Also, of note, the last two northern white rhinos left in the world Fatu and Najin live in this protected enclave.

Safari in Ol Pejeta : Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary

This is the only place in Kenya where you’ll be able to enjoy these loving and intelligent creatures. Here at the sanctuary, orphaned and abandoned chimps are rescued and nursed back to health.

When they’ve been rehabilitated, the chimps are introduced to large natural enclosures where they can live and play freely.
