Cycling safari in Solio Ranch
Cycling safari in Solio game reserve ranch
Solio Ranch. This nature reserve is located in a valley between the high slopes of Mount Kenya and the peaks of the Aberdare Mountains. Just north of Nairobi.. This is a beautiful area for cycling safaris and cycling holidays in Kenya,
The Solio Ranch was once a thriving farm with cows. In 1973, part of it was converted into a protected area for wildlife. Rhinos and other wildlife returned, and today this is a private area of almost 20 hectares in size, of which the 8 hectare Solio Game Reserve is dedicated to the protection of both black and white rhinos. These mighty beasts live here together with buffalos, zebras, giraffes, elands, antelopes, waterbucks, wild boars and more.
An intense experience
- A cycling trip or cycling holiday in Solio Ranch takes you through the most beautiful landscapes with an abundance of wildlife. Regularly seen birds include Ostrich, Stork, Kori Bustard, Ibis, Kingfisher, Crowned Crane, Secretary Bird, Fish Eagle, Hammerhead, Brown Parrot,... But there is also an abundance of animals such as Eland, Oryx, Impala, Thomson's Gazelle, Waterbuck, Reticulated Giraffe, Spotted and Striped Hyena, Zebra, Leopard, Aardvark, Lion, Genet Cat, Jackal, Wild Dogs... The short rainy season runs from mid-October to November, after which temperatures rise to 30°C during the day in December. This warm season lasts until April, after which you will have rain showers again in April and May in the so-called long rainy season. However, in the rainy season it rarely rains all day. You usually have sunny mornings with slowly growing rain clouds before showers in the afternoon and evening. The Solio Game Reserve is a privately managed protected nature reserve.
This place is not part of the classic tourist routes, but it is more than worth organizing your cycling trip or cycling safari there.
